The Bergren Forum - Joshua Thomas, "Totality in the Way, Shadows on Display: The Solar Eclipse of 2024"
The total solar eclipse will pass painfully close to Alfred University on Apr. 8th, 2024. This presentation will discuss how eclipses work, the types of eclipses, the Moon, the Sun, how to view them safely, and more. Eclipses can be awe-inspiring, especially the moment of totality. I will also share some of my experiences from the 2017 eclipse.The Bergren Forum takes place every Thursday lunchtime during the semester from 12:15 pm to 1:00 pm in Nevins Theater. You're welcome to bring your own lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided.
