6/29 Improv and Pots with Personality workshops

Alfred Summer Arts 2024 features arts workshops in a variety of media areas designed for participants working at all levels: artists, teachers, community members and visiting professionals. High school institutes and courses for credit are also offered.

Pots with Personality with Chris Alveshere

Chris will demonstrate how he utilizes his colored porcelain clay to create wheel thrown pots with their own personalities. Through color choices, forms, angles, and additions, Chris will show and discuss intended outcomes of his work, and the importance of play in the studio.

Participants can expect to see Chris make cups, mugs, jars, and multipart sculptural forms through the process of throwing and assembling in sections. This workshop will also be a good resource for those looking to work with ceramic stains at high temperatures.

All levels; some experience needed.
